October is my birthday month, so for a bit of fun I thought I’d share the tree zodiac. Enjoy!
According to Celtic Tree Astrology, when you were born will directly correlate with the formation of your personality and behaviour. Tree astrology was developed by the druids who intimately studied the earth’s cycles and one’s connection to trees. They created a 13 lunar month calendar representing the cycles of the moon. Believing that trees acted as important vessels of knowledge and wisdom, they developed this calendar, see below what kind of tree you are.

With aloof tendencies these individuals can often be misunderstood but they are quietly influential as people look to them for their unique perspective and internal energy and passion. They can transform situations and people with their mere presence, patience and love. Most compatible with the Ivy and Hawthorn sign.
Ash – The Enchanter
February 18th – March 17th
Ash signs are free thinking, imaginative and creative types. Often withdrawn and enjoying their own company, simply because they are in a state of reimagination and self-renewal. Inspired by nature, with strong interests in art, literature, science and spiritual matters. Despite this they are sought out for their enchanting personality, but they rarely place value on what others’ views are of them. Ash partners well with Willow and Reed signs.
Alder – The Trailblazer
March 18th – April 14th
Those born under this sign are considered natural pathfinders, trailblazers that can gain a loyal following, moving people quickly to a cause. They are romantic, brave and generous. With a clear focus and goal orientation they hate wasting time. They are self-assured and confident; people find them charismatic and love being in their company. Best paired with Birches, Oaks and Hawthorn Tree signs.
Willow – The Observer
April 15th – May 12th
Willows are realistic, down to earth, calm and intuitive. Often possessing high IQ, those born under this star sign are honest, generous and sympathetic. With good understanding of people and the lessons taught in life, they are practical in their perspectives with little drama. Willows pair well with Birch and Ivy tree signs.
Hawthorn – The Illusionist
May 13th – June 9th
Just like the Gemini sign in western astrology, the Hawthorn from the Celtic tree zodiac isn’t all that it appears to be. Their external persona often differs from what the rest of the world sees. With incredible internal passion and creativity, they have a lot of curiosity and love to learn about a broad range of topics. An excellent listener and one that people are drawn to share their confidences with. Often seeing the bigger picture, they approach life with a healthy sense of humour, maturity and a clear sense of irony, because of this they can easily adapt to many situations. Good matches for this tree sign are the Ash or Rowan.
Oak- The Stabiliser
June 10th – July 7th
Strong, courageous and loyal are overriding characteristics of those born under the Oak tree sign. With a strong sense of justice, they are often drawn to act as protectors for those without a voice. With nurturing and generous traits, they are often found to be in leadership and educator roles, exuding calm and stability, maintaining a positive outlook. Oaks have a strong connection to ancestry and history and love to impart their knowledge with others. Oaks pair well with those born under the Ash, Reed and Ivy tree signs.
Holly – The Ruler
July 8th – August 4th
The Holly is seen as a noble sign in tree astrology. Often in roles of leadership and status, they easily acquire power and effortlessly tackle tasks. Goal orientated and ambitious, often competitive they always achieve what they put their hearts into. When they don’t achieve their goals at first, they merely take the challenge on and try harder. Brimming with confidence, they are also kind, noble and passionate. Holly’s match well with Ash and Elder tree signs bringing balance and partnership.
Hazel – The Knower
August 5th – September 1st
Possibly known as the most academic of all the tree signs, those born under the Hazel sign are keen learners, excelling within learning situations and they are highly organised. Gifted when absorbing and recalling knowledge often striving to know more, they have acutely analytical minds. Respecting and often setting the rules, this tree sign always wants to see things better. Fiercely loyal, confident and kind. Most compatible with the Hawthorn and Rowan.

With refined tastes, they are often regarded as stylish, charming and classic. Willows and Hazel tree signs complement those under this sign most.
Ivy – The Survivor
September 30th – October 27th
The Ivy tree sign in this Celtic zodiac calendar is blessed with the ability to compassionately and loyally overcome all the odds. With grace and dignity those born under this sign were historically seen to be born under a waning sun and therefore would find themselves often experiencing adversity. With intellect and a unique brilliant personality, they thrive and survive. Often drawn to spirituality, they are brave, determined and always kind. Highly compatible with the Oak and Ash tree signs.
Reed – The Inquisitor

Suitable companions to the reed sign are other reeds, Ashes or Oak signs.
Elder – The Seeker
November 25th – December 23rd
Elders are thrill seekers and live life on the wild side, often regarded as untamed and extroverted. They love to have an adventure and are fun to be around. Because they can be seen as wild and shallow, they can be largely misunderstood as they are also deeply thoughtful, considerate and loyal. They have philosophical minds and a desire for life, but they will always strive to be a friend and help when needed. Most compatible with Alder and Holly signs.
